The DA News had this interview a few days after Jr’s return to the states!

DA NEWS: So Jr tell us what happened in El Salvador, why did you go and What did you guys do!
JR: Me and my Drift Alliance brother Chris Forsberg went to El Salvador to teach a clinic on drifting as well as Introduce Drifting to El Salvador during the largest Annual Car Show doing what we do best… DRIFTING!!!

DA News: That’s awesome, So what were the days like?
JR: We arrived in El Salvador on November 22nd. Immediately off the plane we were rushed to a press conference and after a 2 day flurry of radio, TV and Newspaper interviews it was time to teach the clinic. Also seeing the cars we were going to drive for the demo.
DA News: How did the Clinic go?
JR: The Clinic went great and The Salvadorians were very interested to learn this amazing sport they have only up until now dreamed of learning. After the clinic Chris and I jumped in our cars to practice for the big show Sunday.
DA News: You guys have done many clinics. It’s awesome to see you guys teach others this sport! So what cars did you guys have?
JR: Chris was piloting a brand new stock Nissan 350z that a local had graciously agreed to let him beat on for the next 3 days one of only about 10 in EL Salvador!!. He disconnected the ABS and Traction control and Chris had no problem making it work.

I Drove a CHEVY Camaro z28, a Rx7 Twin turbo, a Corolla, and also the one and only 240sx Drift Car in El Salvador. The Camaro had no brakes but I made it work around the course a few times and decided it was to dangerous for tandem. The Rx7 was a great car but would overheat after just one pass with my heavy foot. The corolla was a ton of fun but did not have the power to stay in drift on the 3rd gear down hill. The 240 handled a little rough initially as it was the first time the car had been run, with a few changes and about 55psi in the Falken Tires the car was able to hang with the 350z and was making a great show. It was amazing how many locals wanted us to use their cars. It was a great challenge to make the most of the cars. Immediately after we got their Car’s drifting when you could see the owners jumping around so excited it was a great feeling and just a preview of what was going to happen Sunday.
DA NEWS: Sounds like you guys made a lot of fans truly happy!
JR: Yes we did, they also treated us like Rock Star’s. We had some free time and went to the beach as well as indulged in local fare. Hospitality of Salvadorians is something that I never imagined. Everyone did everything they could to make sure we were taken care of and comfortable at all time’s. The crews were like huge families and did everything and anything needed to help out anyone else in the crew, it was really impressive.

DA News: Tell us about the BIG DAY!
JR: Sunday gates opened at 10 by 10:30 the 1.5 mile dirt entrance to the track was filled with cars and the line continued over a mile down the highway. They hit the track for the first time at 1pm. They slowly rolled up to where the spectators were sitting and were introduced to the crowd. The screams and whistles of the spectators were incredibly loud and the excitement and anticipation for drifting to was amazing. Throughout the day we performed 3 demos on the track. Each demo went as planned and progressively got more exciting and the crowd got crazier as we got closer and faster during our tandem runs! We even did a special Bull Fighting Show for them.

Chris was outside the car holding a shirt and I was chasing him like a bull in the Corolla. It was amazing and the crowd went absolutely CRAZY!!! We were non stop all day with Lines of Autographs and Pictures. It was just a great event that will go down in history for El Salvador. It feels good to go to a place like El Salvador that is still developing an not as fortunate as us in the USA and to put a huge smile on everyone’s face because of drifting is PRICELESS
Thank You El Salvador! We will be back!!!
