Introducing DriftSafe.org

June 4th, 2006 - Geoffrey Chandler

On June 16th a third installment of Universal Pictures The Fast and the Furious series of movies is set to hit US theaters with the release of The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift. I hope to get a first look at the film in the coming week and will most certainly put together a summary and review of the film, but the nearing release is bound to have an impact on far more then simply the summer box office.

The full impact that Tokyo Drift will have on the growing drifting culture remains to be seen, but if it is anything like the previous films, it is going to bring a whole lot more attention to the growing sport. With this increased attention drifting will be faced with both positive and negative pressures, it becomes the responsibility of the drifting community to highlight the positives.

driftsafe.orgAs a pro-active move, the staff here at DriftLive has put together a new website that hopes to promote the mature and responsible drifting that so many of us enjoy, and wish to continue to enjoy in the future. This website is DriftSafe. With DriftSafe our goal is to provide a place where members of the drifting community can find and share information on managing the risks associated with drifting, promote safe drifting behavior, and educate newcomers to the sport of drifting.

For the time being we will be hosting DriftSafe on the DriftLive web-server, but in the future I am certain that it will grow large enough to need its own home.
