The weekend action will also see newcomer Nick Hogan make a bid to acquire his D1 Grand Prix Series license in an effort to compete on the circuit. The 16-year-old driver has honed his drifting skills by taking part in a number of test sessions with Team Mopar, Hübinette, and the crew from NuFormz Racing throughout the year.
Hogan, son of professional wrestling icon Hulk Hogan, has already earned a Formula D provisional license at the series’ Pro-Am Nationals, held in November at Laughlin, Nevada. Fans can watch as Hogan develops his drifting skills in episodes of the reality television show “Hogan Knows Best, which chronicles the lives of the Hogans, and airs on the VH1 network.

Dont try tell me its his tallant that got him there, Im the Hulkster and he’s my boy thats why he got there End of.

All I gotta say is this
give Pat that car and tech support and he would have his licence right now instead of a canned car and a sore back. Nick just hasn’t shed any blood sweat or tears for the sport yet. Or gained any real skill.
Comment by Cam — December 15, 2006 #
my father and uncle give me 7 car one of the car is almost 2000 hp and i could control it

EVERYBODY IS’NT PERFECT..WE ALL SET GOALS IN LIFE AND STRIVE TO MAKE IT. NICK AND I GO WAY BACK. HE HAS ALOT OF HEART AND HE’S GOING TO MAKE IT.
WHY NOT SUPPORT THE PEOPLE IN THE SPORT YOU “LOVE” AND WATCH IT GROW.
I’M SURE IF YOU WERE ABLE TO HAVE A FACTORY BACKED RIDE, EVERYONE WOULD’NT SAY THE SAME THING ABOUT YOU???
AGE IS JUST A NUMBER IN LIFE, IT’S HOW YOU GROW AS A PERSON WHICH COUNTS. YOU CAN BE 16 OR 30 AND HAVE THE SAME SKILL SETS.

“lets see another 16 year old place like nick does in formula D ”
nick hasn’t even done anything in formula D, he barley got his provisional licence by default basically.
And another 16 year old, Ken Gushi was very dominate in formula when he was 16. And he wasn’t driving a 600 HP viper, more like a mid 300 range 240sx.
And please don’t turn around and start bitching about how Ken was driving since he was 8 because thats what it takes to be successful in the sport and Nick just don’t got it yet.
And with the car he is driving and the way he is driving he probably never will. Stop only showing up to FD and D1 qualifiers and start doing some local events, with real people in a car with your skill level.
Comment by cam — January 3, 2007 #
ken Gushi is a natural in drifting nick isn’t
Comment by josh — January 4, 2007 #
what the hell is wrong with you people? doesn’t everybody need practice? you say whoevers drifted since they were 7 or 8…and they’re good at it now arn’t they? you can’t expect someone who just learned a new sport to be the best overnight. geeze, lay off! i say, good luck Nick. you’ll get where you wana go!
much love,
Randi

Who wouldn’t take the opportunity he has taken if given the chance. I understand how it could make some people bitter because they had to work harder for their big break, but thats life. All any of us can do is take the opportunies that WE GET and make the most of them.. Sometimes its who you know that gets your foot in the door. In fact its usually who you know not what you know it seems…
He has got a lot to offer sponsors, with his own show on VH1, this kid is famous already..I hope he capitalizes on this opportunity for himself and takes nothing for granted. He can silence a lot of small minds if he goes out there and KILLS IT! I don’t beleive you can judge a situation unless you yourself are living it, so I’d be careful what you say now.. Lets see he’s got excellent resources, didactic teachings from people like Tanner Foust and Sam Hubinette… With proper seat time he might silence some of those folks out there guzzlin hateraide…
Comment by Ryan Hanson — January 15, 2007 #
people need to lay off of him.
you people seriously cant say you would have taken the same opportunity that nick had if it was handed to you.
no hes not the best but atleast he tried and you could tell that he really wanted it. hes going to try to make it no matter what.
so what his dad is hulk hogan. if he was my dad or i had a famous dad i would use it to my advantage like nick is. it will eventually get him somewhere in life.
Comment by tyler — January 29, 2007 #
nick is still a loser to me
Comment by mike — January 30, 2007 #
ok well nick has talent he just crashed cuz he was under pressure. not that big of a deal he just needs to relax under pressure. he will be a great drifter one day. dose any one know how to get a formula D licence?
Comment by seamus — February 15, 2007 #
If he wants it bad enough it will happen for him. Thats a sport were the outcome of the race, skill level, is all the matters. If he sucks Mopar won’t keep him on their team.
Comment by Jason — March 2, 2007 #
Hey nick it Ed with the r33 skyline. Don’t worry about the internet drifters. They can hate all they want. There is no need to prove yourself to anyone just as long as you are happy doing it. Anyway it took me two drift day events before I had the balls to drift the bank at irwindale. Good luck and tell your family I said hi. See you on the track.
Comment by ed johnson — April 4, 2007 #
To get good credability in the drifting scene it requires that you start from scratch and build you own car. The fact that Nick comes in with the Formula D Championship car is a little lame. I know his dad has got some pretty hookep up supras from Titan motorsports. I dont see why they just dont sponsor him. The fact that he is just using a loner car means that he aint serious. He’s just testing the waters to see if he is any good. His dad got into wrestling in its grassroots days and I guess his son wants to do the same, but even his dad had to start from the bottom.
Comment by J. Fuchigami — April 10, 2007 #
Nick doesn’t know it is in this sport. Other people work hard to do what they need to do.All hogan knows is to ask his daddy for car parts and tires and other things. he doesn’t know how hard it is for us. i’ll start giving him respect when he sacrafices things for drifting.
Comment by s13warrior — April 20, 2007 #
if nick see’s this i would like to work with you and the drifting here is my email jroberts339@hotmail.co.uk

I started to love watching drift when i was 5. i saw those old cops and robbers movies where they’d run away in cars. and every turn the would drift it or powerslide. im 14 now. i meen nick just got in because one day he fealt that it be cool to do so what? he asks dad to hook him up. I told my uncle that i wish i could try it out. he just told me that it costs a lot to do so i should just forget it. im still into it but i think i’ll never be able to try it out for real. Nick is just rich. sorry i meen Hulk is rich. and if you have money. you can have everything. as much as we hate it its true.
Comment by S15freak — January 8, 2008 #
thats why the dumb shit wrecked his supra, and the viper. The kid cant handle speed & isnt meant to drift, money cant fix a death.
Comment by ma70supra — January 17, 2008 #
not bad for a 16 year old. to many haters we all start with what we have. Drifting isent about the ride its about skill, although the car does help he does show potential few more years and he will be a sick drifter. keep up the good work. i started drifting a few years back now i compete all over the place. practice and lots of money for parts/tires.. good luck.
Comment by DriftUnit — January 20, 2008 #
its funny how everyone is the master teacher or commentator on drifting skills or the sport itself. We all start some place most of us with a stock ride and a few turns on the road. we all started out horrible spinning out and crashing at least once. let the kid do his thing everyone has to learn from ones mistakes to apply them next time. just cause hes got more money than most of you dosent mean you have to hate. i drove a stock s14 silvia and i still won first place in many drift events against way faster and modified cars, gymikana etc. but like ive seen if your not ready to crash no point even trying. cause your going to hit that wall many times. just keep hitting it. no way like sideways
