DriftLive was invited to speak to the producers of the upcoming ‘The Fast and Furious’ video game. Drifting will be a major game play component in ‘The Fast and the Furious’ but, the producers made it clear that this game does not follow the story line of any of the ‘Fast and Furious’ movie titles. Expect to see ‘The Fast and the Furious’ in stores late September.
A taste of the scale in ‘The Fast and the Furious’
The game takes place within Japan’s underground racing scene, where your driving will earn you friends as well as cash. In the game you travel through Japan finding racers and tuners on your way to touge (mountain) and wangan (freeway) stages. Though the game does feature traditional racing, the developers believe the drifting model they have created will set the game apart. The game will feature real drifting techniques but, will remain accessible to average gamers and not just hard core drifters. Many real world tuners and drivers were consulted during the development of the game and Mike feels confident that his team has captured drifting. We should have a full review soon and will tell you how well they delivered ‘The Fast and the Furious’.
Also of note: Namco has not ignored the influence that video games can have on young drivers and has added an endgame message that encourages players to ‘take it to the track’. Namco has also included a $50 Dollar coupon for any N.A.S.A HPDE Event.
