Back in the Saddle Rhys is Gonna Flip The Truck
Drifting as a sport may not have the highest profile in the world, but it is becoming know for having some of the most talented drivers. Rhys Millen is going to flip his truck out of 2008 and into 2009. While practicing the stunt last year, Rhys hit the takeoff ramp with a bit too much speed and ended up crashing. Looks like he is not going to let fear stop him from reaching his goals. He could easily sit on his laurels and ride his other successes, but Rhys appears to have remained hungry. My hats off to Rhys, it takes a lot of guts to get back up after being knocked down and attempt a stunt like this.
JR’s New 2010 Falken Tires Ford Mustang
Vaughn Gittin Jr piloting a brand new 2010 Ford Mustang at a live introduction event in Santa Monica. The entire body of the car is lightweight dry carbon, a significant upgrade from the Mustang he has been piloting for the last several Formula D seasons.
Texas builds a Nissan Bodied Corvette
In a drastic measure to save GM, the team behind the Corvette has started to throw 10 year old Nissan bodies on them. Rumor has it, this concept vehicle came out of the ALosey skunkworks in Texas. You can see in the video, the design team is still having traction and smoke issues, but I am sure they will fix that before the car goes into production.
4 Rotor Motor Madness
This video of Mad Mike from NZ’s 4 Rotor RX-7 is hardly the definition of high … definition, but just listen to the sounds that car’s 4 rotor wankle makes. Amazing.
My Hero
What is it going to take to get drifting back at El Toro. That place was great.
Seeing Red
This was the best set of tandem runs from the 2008 Irwindale event. These two guys were locking horns big-time. There is nothing more exciting then watching two great drivers go 110%.
I am a bit suspect of the final scoring for the run with Tanner following JTP. Tanner appears to straighten out after striking the wall with the rear of his 350z. It’s reasonable that JTP got a zero on the first run for making contact with the lead vehicle, but it seems to me that Tanner should have earned a zero on the second run.
All that aside, I would love to know how fast they went on that run, it looks like they were on the gas hard enough to bend a firewall.
Great run, keep up the good work.
