All seedes drivers are automatically entered into the main event on saturday and are considered by D1 to be driftings “All Stars.” The remaining unseede drivers must qualify today (friday) to be eligible for saturdays event. 6 Japanese drivers and 6 American driver will be chosen.

Due to the fact that Rhys Millen will not be driving in saturdays main event 7 unseeded American drivers will advance on to friday.

The top six drivers recieve their D1 License and are eligible to compete in fridays qualifying round for the D1 GP Irwindale. The Drivers Search winners from will face off against the unseeded U.S.A and Japan Drivers in a competition for the remaining 12 spots for saturdays main event. 10 U.S.A and 10 Japan “All Stars are automatically entered into saturdays competition. Now word so far if Rhys Millen’s crash will has caused an additional space to open up for non-seeded U.S.A. Drivers.

Rhys Millen - GTO Meets Wall

Early on during thursdays practice session 2005 Formula D Champion Rhys Millen had the misfortune of testing the holding strength of Irwindale Speedway’s inner wall.

Rhys says that the car is a total loss, but that he is ok. He will be watching his father, Rod Millen, from the grandstands as he will no longer run in this weeks event.
