While browsing through myspace looking for drifters, I stumbled across a picture of Hiro Sumida’s Toyota in front of the judges stand at the 2005 D1GP ‘All Star’ after he narrowly avoided the same k-rail that later claimed Ken Noruma’s car. I quickly realized by seeing myself in the photo that I had quite a bit more video from that event that remains to be edited and uploaded and I became inspired. Since Hiro’s photo was the inspiration, this video of his qualifying runs will be the first that I pull up from the DriftLive archives.

Nick Hogan Drift Drifting Crash Formula D Qualifier Irwindale Speedway

Nick Hogan behind the wheel of the Team Mopar SRT-10 Viper during the 4th and final Formula D Licensing event. The car, usually piloted by Samuel Hubinette, found its way into the wall at Irwindale Speedway during Hogan’s qualifying attempt. To Hogan, and the Mopar crews credit, this was after a long day filled with car related challenges.
