Coilovers on a SN95 vs. strenght of strut tower

Hi everybody,

I have read numerous times about the installation of a coilover system on a SN95. And I have a real stupid question:

The spring actually carries the static and dynamic weight of the car. The original construction has the spring between the A arm and the K member. Changing to a coilover system means to move all the weight and stress from the K member to the strut tower.

So my question is: is the strut tower strong enough to carry the weight of the car especially under racing conditions without reinforcement long running?

Quinn's 93 Notch

Hey, Found the forum recently and figured I'd add my part. This is my 93 Notch with a 2.3L auto. Has rear air shocks, and seemed to be pretty well maintained. I bought some things for it today like an equal length header and a Jet piggyback chip from a guy of CL. Ended up talking a while with him and he gave me a gauge pod and I plan to buy a full T5 setup from his stang whenever he gets his 351w. Before that I got some 12-gauge subframe connectors that I have to weld-in still. This will also double as a how-to-build-your-$850-Mustang-into-a-drift-car-as-fast-as-possible-on-a-McDonalds-budget-at-17.

What I found in the car after I bought and cleaned it.

It's not worth full price, good thing I didn't pay it.

Shenandoah Speedway:
This track features an open paved infield with banked turns and several grades making a smooth transition from track to infield. Concrete barriers surround the infield with two openings allow you to drift on the bank and drop into the infield for a fun and challenging experience. Orange safety cones can be setup to make a drift course to add even more challenge to the experience and help you develop your skills. This track is a great place for all levels of experience from the beginner to the advanced driver.

General Safety Requirements:
D.O.T or Snell approved helmet.
Properly functioning seatbelt/safety restraints.
Tandem minimum requirements: (additional to General Safety Requirements)

6 Point roll cage (weld-In only)
4 Point safety harness
(Tech inspections will be done prior to admittance onto the track.)

Rules:
All spectators must stay behind safety barriers and fence. (Please stay within these areas even when taking video/pictures.)
No Alcohol or Weapons Permitted.
Only Official WSM and Shenandoah Speedway staff is permitted on track by foot at all times unless otherwise noted.
No speeding in pit area (10MPH Limit)

Spectators: $10.00 Per Person (Kids 12 and Under are Free)
Drivers: $20.00 Per Person

Sold my Mustang

Sold the car this weekend, but it went to a good home. It's loaded on a trailer headed across country to the home of one Vaughn Gittin Jr. I hate to see the car go, but it ended up with a good home. Hopefully he shares some pics of his build with the car.

I havent put on any new upgrades but im still going to get some good seat time. Gonna get my mufflers welded (so they dont fall off like last time) and gotta get new rubber on drift tires. hope to see yall there!!

Hi,

my name is Michael, I am 40 years old, live in Graz, Austria, Europe and started to drift two years ago.
It all began when my brother in law sold his old sports car, a Honda S2000, to my wife and insisted that we have to attend a drift training. We did and when we came back, I was infected. I told my wife that I am going to drift regularly and that the Honda is too nice, too good shape to wreck it. And I told her that we are going to buy a car especially for that purpose. She told me I am crazy (we had already 3 cars at that time) but finally she was OK with the idea. She only had one requirement: the car I was going to buy must be cool.
I suggested a BMW, she said no, I suggested a Mercedes, she said no, Volvo, no, Saab, no, and so on. One day I came home and asked her how about a Mustang. She said "cool".
I bought a 1994 5.0 GT. Mustangs are not easy to find in Europe. And its really hard to find any information about Mustangs too.
In the meantime I have completely rebuilt the suspension but if I had found this site earlier I would have done it differently. I exchanged the suspension bushings, struts and springs front and rear, ball joint, caster/camber plates, bumb steering kit, racings seats and some more parts.
I still drive the Mustang on the street so I had to stay street legal. Well, actually it is not street legal anymore but there are ways how to get through the yearly legal check. I have planned to buy another everyday car - a pickup and a trailer - and by that I would not have to drive the Stang on the street anymore and could do some more extreme modifications. Legal rules are very restrictive here in Austria, so even the mild mods I have done are quite on the edge of legality altough they made the car much much better.
Frankly speeking the Mustang is quite a crappy car compared with everything else but it has that coolness factor that makes a difference.
I am going to post some pictures soon and I will ask many questions to you. I am not a native speaker so please excuse my mistakes. Especially I am not used to talk about car technics and miss a lot of vocabulary.

Hey guys my local club here in Madison Wi. (slide society) is starting to put together events for this year, they will all be really cheap, most of them will be 20 bucks for nearly a whole day.
