Vaughn Gittin Jr. preparing to embark on a once-in-a-lifetime journey - a journey that hes dreamed about ever since he was first exposed to drifting. March 3rd he headed to the land of the rising sun to meet his awaiting partner a 500-horsepower 2010 Ford Mustang. Prior to the cars trip to Japan, the Ford Racing crew in Detroit bolted on his shopping list of performance parts including a Ford Racing supercharger and intercooler, an Exedy clutch, a Ford Racing FR3 suspension pack, a Ford Racing brake kit, HRE wheels, a K&N air filter, Bosch Performance spark plugs, and of course, the unfortunate victims of Vaughns throttle-heavy foot Falken Tires.

Vaughn has accomplished a lot in a Ford Mustang he has won two World Championships, podiumed in multiple Formula Drift events, won a time-attack round, performed countless exhibitions, has given thousands of lucky enthusiasts ridealongs, broke a world record, and drove across the country to experience the Mustangs 45 years of fast, fun and affordable driving. This journey through Japan is definitely going to be one of his best Mustang stories yet.

Haha, I noticed that as well. I don't think Falken is making this happen, I think it is a Ford deal. From a marketing perspective, I think this is a brilliant move.

Drifting seems to have its own degree of marketability. It's perscribed as hip and happening, the costs associated with it compared to the likes of NASCAR are miniscule, and it allows them to market their new car with the personality of Gittin.

I wonder how many Fusion's NASCAR sponsorship has sold...
